Jim Power, "The Mosaic Man", has been a fixture in New York's East Village for nearly 3 decades now. Power's intricate tile work can be seen throughout the village adorning street lights, walls, and sidewalks and is, arguably, one of New York City's largest and longest running self-funded public arts projects.
Power, 67, has in recent years shifted to the restoration and upkeep of existing mosaics. Some of his work has remained intact for nearly 20 years, while countless other fixtures have been removed by the city.
